We were excited to receive a design request from Grinning Man Media Group. They were looking for a custom business card design that offered a clean and simplistic look.
The design concept was to incorporate the information into a movie clapboard. The clapboard is an iconic symbol that conveys the client’s profession as horror film producers.
Once the design concept was approved for each letterpress business card, they decided to incorporate dark gray letterpress or a blind deboss printed on 2ply black card stock.
Upon hearing the request, we had some concerns with using gray ink on the 2ply black cards stock because the ink would then become transparent. Additionally, when thin text is blind debossed, it can become difficult to read. Below you can see the samples.
Our graphic designers decided on using custom gray ink on the 2ply black card stock. When white Ink is added to the gray ink, we were able to create a custom gray ink that was legible on black card stock while looking similar to a blind deboss.
