The Cholla cactus is found naturally in the Arizona desert. When a Cholla dies, the spiny outer “skin” slowly decays revealing underneath a unique wood.
The holders are made out of the “skeleton” of the plant. I carefully remove the spiny outer layer, then sand, clean, size, saw, dremel and wash each cacti.
This series of cholla holders have had three extra steps added to the process…they are hand painted, and resined twice. The resining process takes between 12-18 hours for each resin session.
